Postal Stamps Set “We will not Forget! We will not Forgive!” Ukrposhta

On March 31, Ukrposhta put into circulation a new postal block “We will not forget! We will not forgive! Bucha. Irpin. Gostomel”, dedicated to the hero cities of Kyiv region and their unconquered residents, who were among the first to meet the Russian onslaught with a full-scale invasion.
Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel – cities that will forever be imprinted in the genetic memory of Ukrainians as places where, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, fierce battles with the enemy took place, the Russian occupiers committed mass murders of the civilian population, abused people, and engaged in total destruction. Despite extremely difficult tests, Bucha, Irpin and Gostomel not only survived, but also became shields for the capital of our country, preventing the enemy from occupying Kyiv.
In March 2022, by the decision of the President of Ukraine, these cities were awarded the honorary title “Hero City”.
The postage stamps of the block depict documentary photos with a destroyed column of enemy vehicles on Vokzalnaya Street in Buch, crossings over the Irpin River, which was the main evacuation route for the civilian population, and a picture of the world’s largest transport aircraft AN-225 “Mriya” at the airfield in Gostomel, which destroyed by the invaders.
From the first minutes of implementation, unexpectedly for Ukrposhta, the issue became quite popular and sensational. And despite all the established restrictions, it was not enough for a long time.
I don’t know if it’s a miscalculation or a deliberate fueling of hype. But I know that today another witness of our new, painful and heroic history was born, who will take an honorable place in the collections of philatelists.
